So assuming I was picking up the manufacturing costs via Inside Out (who would only be able to manage a limited release I should imagine), all I'd do would be lose money from start to finish. And it wouldn't get anywhere near the the top of the charts. Believe me, I know.
And besides, releasing it free is a much better was of getting it distributed than trying to get people to pay for it!
That way, Frost gets the exposure (relatively speaking), Mr Lynne can't sue me for using an un-cleared sample because I'm not making any money from it and I don't have to spend anything in the first place other than a few sweaty hours in yonder Cube! Hurrah! |
There IS a way around this... charge a penny for the CD but anyone that buys it must give a completely unrelated donation to Frost* _________________ QUACK! only evil... just imagine a duck with one of the voices from Bring Me The Horizon |

Really like the sound of the new 'Here is the News' intro. Fits the song really well! Can't wait to get my hands on one of the gig CDs. Now all I have to do (after a little constructive ebaying) is get my hands on a ticket for Manchester... _________________ Mark Charlesworth: Sunrise and Shorelines. It's not often you can say that, but it's true in this instance. I think the Frost* version is a vast improvement over the original.. _________________

Jem, Why can you use the track, but not the intro? _________________ Mike

I think the issue is that Jem (and TBE) perform the track, whereas the intro was just lifted wholly from the original and therefore is Mr. Lynne's performance, which Jem has no legal rights to sell.
Someone will correct me if I am wrong, no doubt. |

No I think you are bang on the money (or something like that).
In the related Frost* report Jem says he has to remove the sample he lifted from the original.
Still the "I woz there" version is still marvelon.... _________________ "Do not play this backwards please, unless you live in Belize,

no no, that's bang on the money. You can perform other people's music as much as you like, you just can't use their recording of it without permission.
And "permission" usually means "paying them some cash"...
Which is right and proper really. |

Thank you Gentlemen
Mr Lynne would've charged a fortune as you improved his already great track. _________________ Mike

Great track, Jem!
The only thing left to do is make a video of you and the boys running around the cube doing important busy work. How's Mitchell with accounting? _________________ "Art expresses nothing but itself" - Oscar Wilde |

He did some 'churn', I bought Time on the strength of Frost*'s Here Is The News. A staggering £3 from Amazon.
The previous poster is right, the original sounds limp compared to this new version. ;) _________________ www.turnmeup.org
