Sorry for the delayed response.
Rob Reed(Magenta), Steve Balsamo(The Storys), Rob Thompson(The Storys)
Featuring: Sam Brown, Tony Dallas, Christina Boothe(Magenta), Margo Buchanan, Bluei, Nigel Hopkins, Andrew Griffiths, Sian Cothie.

It's the kind of thing you'll either love or hate. I like it - there are some nice tracks and some clever narration (Tony Dallas). Also some DJ-style deck work which also seems to split the audience - if done well I think it is ok.
The use of the TB sample caused a few ripples on the Oldfield forum apparently - which I think is great, people can sometimes get a bit too precious about the sanctity of the "great works".
Hope you like it. Rob is a talented bloke - most of the music on the Magenta CDs is him (all writing, most playing). _________________ "Do not play this backwards please, unless you live in Belize,

Oooh, that's one for the Xmas list!
Shame there's so much vocal or we'd have already been hearing that as backing on 'Gardeners World'. _________________ "Shit, drop the tea, RUN!" |

Bit of Steve Balsamo trivia.
He's done a bit of collab with one of my songwriting hero's Nik Kershaw, with the results on both Nik's 'To Be Frank' album, and on Steve's 'All I Am' album. Both worth a good listen, I reckon.
And he woz in Jesus Christ Superstar, you know... _________________ Why have all my lights gone out? |

Yes he was in Superstar for a while I think.
I have the Chimpan-A CD, and it is quite different from the Magenta or other stuff Rob has released before. Some really good collaborations though.
I had to have it explained to me but in case it isn't obvious to others the name comes from a play on Chimpan-Z
Obvious when you see it, but was lost on me for a while |

He was indeed in Jesus Christ Superstar, and the friend who introduced me to the Chimpan-A album has been tracking Balsamo's career since he heard him in JSC. One of the few times that the friend in question has actually sent some good music my way rather than the other way around. (;-)
Oh, and here's a link (if I get it working) for anyone who wants to hear Balsamo in JSC: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-rre_BXxC0 |

| Yeah, that's definitely a performance that leaves me wanting to see more. I wonder if the rest of that particular show is available on DVD or something? It ought to be worth seeing/hearing in its entirety. (:-) |

Agreed ! The dude rocks. "One Step Ahead" is a song that has driven me for years, since I was a kid.
15 Minutes and To Be Frank were really cool too, that was a nice surprise to see him evolve in this way _________________ ...Whatever. |

Great track. I always associate Jem with the album 'Time'.
Oh and Tom, you were right on the money about the guitar synth. _________________ 'Oh bother!' Said Pooh...and hid piglet's body. |

Why can I sometimes start a new thread and other times not be allowed to start a new thread? i.e. now, I cannot post a new topic but yesterday I could, if I'd time, which I hadn't, but should have, because I could have.

that makes a lot of sense. no really it does. which makes this post weird. so it's special.
I love this song... amazing... NOT the weird cover thing my friend did. Here is the news died when I heard it... but the original cheered me up again _________________ QUACK! only evil... just imagine a duck with one of the voices from Bring Me The Horizon |

Before anyone goes of on one.
I used to listen to ELO when I did my paper round.
Here is the news is a good track, well performed live last year by ELO Part 2.
However...............
It pales into insignificance compared to this version.
I hate awesome, vastly over used word, but this is excellent |
I stand by my original comments
Excellent June 2, to see how it was put together _________________ Mike
